Heroine’s ear torn in kidnapper attack, 7 stitches required
One-time silver screen heroine Ranjita was attacked by kidnappers on her way back from Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC). At that time, they pulled her earring. As a result, her ear was torn. After being taken to the hospital, she required seven stitches. The incident occurred on her way back home in Rampura Bazar area at around 9:30 pm on Sunday (May 17).
In a video message, the actress said, “The elections of the Artists’ Association are always like a festival for us. I went to the FDC to watch it. On my way back home at night, someone suddenly followed me. I got very scared. Before I knew it, they pulled my earring. Later, I saw blood coming out, my ear was torn.”
After the incident, she was speechless with fear. Later, with the help of people around, she was rushed to the hospital. She is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Rampura. It is learnt that doctors have kept her under observation due to diabetes and high blood pressure. It is to be noted that Ranjita made her big screen debut in the late eighties with the movie ‘Dhaka 86’ directed by Razzak. She caught the attention of the audience in the very first movie. Later, she acted in about 30 movies including ‘Raja Mystery’ and ‘Jiner Badshah’. She has not been seen in movies since 2005. Meanwhile, the actress currently lives in Banasree area of Dhaka. She is accompanied by her physically disabled brother and only child.
