UITS Graduates Step onto the Stage of Fulfilling Their Dreams
“A convocation is not merely a university’s formal graduation ceremony; it is a magnificent declaration of the pursuit of knowledge, academic excellence, values, character, a sense of responsibility and commitment to the future.” — Alhaj Sufi Mohammed Mizanur Rahman
The fourth convocation of the University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS) was held in a festive and joyous atmosphere, marking a memorable milestone in the lives of its graduates. More than 5,000 students were awarded degrees at the ceremony, while 16 outstanding students received the Chancellor’s Gold Medal in recognition of their academic excellence.
The convocation speaker was Alhaj Sufi Mohammed Mizanur Rahman, recipient of the Ekushey Padak for his outstanding contribution to social service and the highly respected Chairman of PHP Family.
The ceremony was presided over by Md. Mahbubul Haque Patowary, Additional Secretary (Universities) of the Ministry of Education, who was nominated by the President of Bangladesh.
The welcome addresses were delivered by Dr. Mohammad Omar Faruk, Adviser to the UITS Board of Trustees, and Professor Md. Abu Hasan Bhuiya, Vice-Chancellor of UITS. Ali Hossain Sohag, a member of the UITS Board of Trustees, was also present.
Addressing the graduating students, convocation speaker Sufi Mohammed Mizanur Rahman described the occasion as not merely a day of graduation but the beginning of an important and joyful new chapter in their lives. He said the occasion was equally a matter of immense pride and happiness for the entire UITS family.
“Convocation is not merely a university’s formal graduation ceremony; it is a magnificent declaration of the pursuit of knowledge, academic excellence, values, character, a sense of responsibility and commitment to the future,” he observed.
He further said that the degrees being conferred upon the graduates were much more than academic certificates. They represented years of hard work and dedication, the sacrifices of parents and guardians, the commitment of teachers, the prayers and support of families, and the graduates’ future responsibilities towards society.
Offering his heartfelt prayers, he expressed hope that every graduate would achieve success and fulfilment in both this world and the Hereafter through the grace of Almighty Allah.
Addressing the graduates, Md. Mahbubul Haque Patowary highlighted the growing opportunities for young Bangladeshis in freelancing, remote employment, global startups and international research.
He observed that the demand for conventional and traditional knowledge was gradually changing, while skills and practical competencies were becoming increasingly important in the global job market.
He emphasised that young graduates must develop critical thinking, research capabilities, human values, problem-solving skills and digital competence. Rather than merely following global trends, he urged them to develop the vision, creativity and capabilities necessary to lead the world.
Among the distinguished guests were UITS Trustee Member and PHP Family Vice-Chairman Md. Mohsin; Trustee Member and PHP Family Managing Director Md. Iqbal Hossain; Trustee Members and Directors Anwarul Haque, Amir Hossain Sohel, Zahirul Islam Rinku and Akter Parvez; Peoples Insurance PLC Chairman Zafar Ahmed Patwary; Chief Executive Officer Azizul Hossain; PHP Family Executive Director Shovito Bikash Barua; and UITS Registrar Kamrul Hasan.

With their newly earned degrees, the graduates embarked on a new journey, inspired to translate their knowledge, talent and skills into meaningful contributions to their professional careers, society and the overall development of the nation.
