Rickshaw puller beaten to death in Gopalganj on suspicion of theft

A battery-powered rickshaw puller named Al Amin Sheikh (25) was beaten to death in Madhya Miapara of Gopalganj district town on suspicion of rickshaw theft. The brutal murder took place on Wednesday (May 20) night. This morning, Thursday (May 21), the police sent the body of the deceased to the morgue of the 250-bed General Hospital for autopsy.
The deceased rickshaw puller Al Amin Sheikh is a resident of Madhya Miapara area of ​​the city. According to police and local sources, Al Amin Sharif used to drive a battery-powered rickshaw on rent from the garage of Kamrul Thakur, the caretaker of Dr. M. D. Rabiul Islam Tuhin’s house on Liton Road. Two days ago, a rickshaw was stolen from that garage. In this incident, Kamrul and his associates, suspecting him of being a thief, locked Al Amin inside the house and beat him repeatedly.
Meanwhile, Al Amin’s mother went to the accused Kamrul’s house last night as her son was missing. After much screaming, she entered the house and found Al Amin lying motionless in the bathroom. Hearing the mother’s screams, the neighbors rushed to inform the police. Later, the police quickly reached the spot, rescued Al Amin and took him to the hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead. The main accused caretaker Kamrul Thakur has been absconding since the incident. The officer-in-charge (OC) of Gopalganj Sadar Police Station confirmed the incident and said that the police recovered the body after receiving information that a rickshaw puller had been beaten to death on charges of theft. The autopsy report found multiple signs of beating on the body of the deceased. Preparations are underway to file a murder case on behalf of the victim’s family in this incident. Multiple police teams have started operations to arrest those involved in the incident as soon as possible.
