Trump wants to be Israel’s prime minister
US President Donald Trump wants to run for the next prime minister of Israel. He made the comments while speaking to reporters before the graduation ceremony of the US Coast Guard Academy on Wednesday (May 20) local time. Trump claimed that he is very popular in Israel.
“After I finish this job, I might go to Israel and run for prime minister,” he said. “I saw a poll this morning and it says I have 99 percent support. That’s pretty good.” However, he did not specify which poll he was referring to. The White House did not immediately comment on the matter.
Benjamin Netanyahu is currently serving as Israel’s prime minister. He has held the position multiple times since 1996. Trump has been known to be a strong supporter of Netanyahu in the ongoing situation surrounding the Iran war.
Asked if he had spoken to Netanyahu about the current state of the Iran war, Trump said, “He’s fine. He’s a very good man. He’ll do whatever I ask him to do. He’s a great man to me.” The day before, Trump said he was considering a “major attack” on Iran. Two days earlier, he said he had called off the attack because of progress on a potential deal to end the war. “Let’s not forget, he’s a wartime prime minister. I think Israel doesn’t give him the credit he deserves. But he’s a wartime prime minister, and I don’t think he’s getting the respect he deserves.” Source: USA Today
