Padma Bridge 4 years, toll collection of about 3,400 crore taka
The Padma Bridge, which brought about a revolutionary change in the communication system of the capital with the southwestern part of the country, has completed 4 years since its inauguration. According to relevant sources, during this period, about 26.7 million vehicles have passed through the bridge and about 3,394 crore 45 lakh taka has been collected as toll.
Executive Engineer of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge, Abu Saad Niloy, confirmed the matter and said that after its inauguration in 2022, 27 lakh 90 thousand 465 vehicles crossed the bridge that year. At that time, 402 crore 96 lakh 33 thousand 150 taka was collected as toll. In the following year, 2023, the number of vehicles increased to 62 lakh 57 thousand 494. That year, toll collection was 814 crore 68 lakh 17 thousand 600 taka.
In 2024, 67 lakh 34 thousand 904 vehicles used the bridge. At that time, the revenue from toll was 836 crore 45 lakh 36 thousand 100 taka. In 2025, a maximum of 72 lakh 41 thousand 587 vehicles crossed the Padma Bridge. That year, toll collection also reached its highest level at 888 crore 81 lakh 65 thousand 650 taka.
And according to the data for the current year 2026, so far 36 lakh 90 thousand 781 vehicles have crossed the bridge. Toll collection was 451 crore 53 lakh 70 thousand taka. Overall, a total of 2 crore 67 lakh 15 thousand 231 vehicles have passed through the Padma Bridge from June 25, 2022 to June 23, 2026. During the same period, a toll of 3 thousand 394 crore 45 lakh 22 thousand 500 taka was collected.
Those concerned say that not only has the communication system improved through the Padma Bridge, but also a new momentum has been gained in economic activities in the southern part of the country. Due to the convenience of transportation, traffic on this route is continuously increasing. Incidentally, after a long period of hard work, the then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Padma Bridge on June 25, 2022. The next day, June 26, the 6.15-kilometer-long Padma Bridge was opened for traffic.
