Driver killed, 3 injured in cattle truck overturn in Kishoreganj

One person was killed and three others were injured in a collision between a diesel-powered Nasimon coming from Bajitpur and a pickup van carrying sacrificial cows on the Bhairab regional road in Kishoreganj. The accident occurred on Tuesday (May 19) at around 12 noon in the area adjacent to Pirijpur Dakhil Madrasa on the Kishoreganj-Bhairab regional road in Bajitpur upazila.
The deceased is Rajib (35), son of Majlis Mia of Jabbapara village in Gobria Abdullahpur union of the neighboring Kuliarchar upazila. He was the driver of the pickup van. The injured cattle trader Harun Mia and the others are residents of Rasulpur area of ​​Lohajuri union in Katiyadi upazila.
They are being treated at Bhagalpur Zahurul Islam Medical College Hospital. Confirming the incident, Katiyadi Highway Police Station In-charge Md. Khorshed Alam said that the condition of two of the three injured is critical. Their treatment is underway. Further legal action is in the process.
Quoting locals, Kabir Mia, a member of the Pirijpur Bazar Traders Association, said that a pickup van loaded with cows from Katiyadi was going to sell at a market in Bhairab. On the way, it collided with an empty lorry coming from the opposite direction. As a result, the pickup van skidded off the road and the driver died on the spot. Locals rescued the injured and sent them to the hospital. He further said that out of the five cows in the pickup van, four were in critical condition and were slaughtered with the permission of the owner.
