Al Jazeera reports that more than 400,000 people are still displaced in Lebanon: UN

The United Nations has said that more than 400,000 people are still displaced in Lebanon. The organization also said that many families are unable to return to their homes safely due to the ongoing attacks.
On Tuesday (July 21), UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric told reporters that thousands of families living in shelters are facing increasingly difficult conditions. Many of them suffer from poor quality shelter, limited access to safe water and sanitation services and a lack of sources of income.
He said that many families are now dependent on debt to meet basic needs. They are even having to borrow to buy essential medicines. Dujarric added that many displaced families have repeatedly tried to return to their homes, but insecurity, war-torn infrastructure and a lack of basic services in their areas have forced them to return to shelters.
The UN said that the humanitarian crisis for displaced people in Lebanon is not over yet. Until the security situation improves and essential services are restored in the affected areas, the return of many families to their homes will remain uncertain.
