Hero Alam expresses anger over cancellation of Rumin Farhana’s nomination
Ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced the names of candidates for 237 seats. They have not yet announced candidates for 63 seats. Among them, BNP’s co-international affairs secretary Barrister Rumin Farhana is expected to win the Brahmanbaria-2 (two unions of Sarail-Ashuganj-Bijaynagar) seat.
In a post on Facebook today (November 3) after the names of the candidates were announced, Hero Alam wrote, ‘BNP’s fellow traveler in difficult times, a dedicated leader, a voice of protest against tyranny, Rumin Farhana Apa. When I was repeatedly attacked, she protested loudly in the media. She was far ahead of everyone in the race to get nomination from BNP. BNP has done a great injustice to that Rumin Farhana Apa by not nominating her. I strongly condemn it.’ Hero Alam also said, ‘At the same time, I request Tarique Rahman Bhai, the hero of building the future country, to consider this issue specifically. We really need people like Rumin Farhana Apa to build a country free from tyranny.’
