Three Bangladeshis stranded in Iran return home

Three Bangladeshis stranded in Iran have returned home. They were brought back with the assistance of the Bangladesh Embassy in Tehran and the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The Bangladesh Embassy in Iran said this in a message on Monday (June 29). The embassy said that the journey back to the country for these Bangladeshis was not easy at all.
Two of these three citizens were seriously injured while crossing the border illegally and needed medical treatment before they could return home. Another suffered while being detained on the way to the Turkish border during the ongoing conflict in the greater West Asia region. At the initiative of the embassy and in close cooperation with IOM, they were brought to Tehran and all kinds of arrangements were ensured for their return home, including safe accommodation, food, necessary medical care. In addition to financial assistance during the journey, IOM will also provide financial assistance for their rehabilitation after reaching Bangladesh.
The Bangladesh Embassy expresses its sincere gratitude to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for its sincere cooperation and compassion in implementing this humanitarian initiative. The Bangladesh Embassy in Tehran stands by Bangladeshi citizens in danger abroad and urges everyone to avoid the risky path of illegal migration. Such journeys can result in loss of life, serious injury, and prolonged detention.
