Three children, including two siblings, drown in pond
Three children, including two siblings, drowned in a pond in Bhalta Adarsh Guchchagram of Muril Union in Kahalu Upazila of Bogra. The incident occurred on Tuesday (July 21) afternoon.
With the help of locals, Kahalu Fire Service and Civil Defense personnel recovered the bodies of the three. Fire Service Chief Arju Ahmed gave this information. The deceased children are Fahim Hossain (8), son of Faruk Hossain of Bhalta Adarsh Guchchagram of Muril Union in Kahalu Upazila of Bogra, and his daughter Sureiya Khatun (5), and neighbor Md. Zakirul Islam (6), son of Asadul Islam.
Police and Fire Service sources said that around 12 noon today, child Fahim Hossain, his sister Sureiya Khatun and Zakirul Islam went to bathe in a pond in Guchchagram. At one point while bathing, the three children drowned and went missing. Upon receiving the information, Kahalu Fire Service and Civil Defense personnel went to the spot. Around 1:30 pm, firefighter Amir Hamza recovered the bodies of three children from the pond with the help of locals. Kahalu Police Station OC Shafiqul Islam said that the bodies of the three children recovered from the pond have been handed over to the families after completing the legal process. A case of accidental death has been filed at the police station in this regard.
