Chargesheet may be filed in Ramisa murder case today, investigation in final stage
A chargesheet may be filed in the court today in the rape and murder case of child Ramisa in the capital’s Pallabi. The investigation process has almost reached its final stage after receiving DNA, autopsy and viscera reports. Earlier, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police handed over the DNA report of 7-year-old child Ramisa, who was raped and murdered yesterday, to the investigating officer.
Yesterday, Saturday (May 23), Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said at a workshop in the capital’s Mohakhali that if the chargesheet is filed before Eid, the judicial process can be started immediately after Eid. He said that the government is keeping a close eye not only on Ramisa but also on other rape cases.
It is worth noting that the police recovered Ramisa’s body from a house in Pallabi on Tuesday morning. The incident caused widespread reactions across the country. The main accused in the case, Zakir Hossain alias Sohel Rana, was arrested from Narayanganj on May 20. He later gave a confessional statement in the court under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code. The court of Metropolitan Magistrate Aminul Islam Junaid recorded his statement and ordered the accused to be sent to jail.
