‘The body will be left on the road if 20 thousand taka is not paid’

The miscreants have left a letter demanding a ransom of 20 thousand taka from the Hindu community in Lalpur, Natore. They have threatened that if the money is not paid through bKash within 24 hours, the bodies of the family members will be left on the road.
On Saturday (August 1), at around 11 pm, unidentified persons left the letter on the balcony of the house of Narayan Kumar Pal of Palpara village in Baknai area of ​​Lalpur union of the upazila. Panic spread in the Hindu village after the incident became known.
According to local residents and victim families, the miscreants left the letter on the balcony of the house of Narayan Kumar Pal, son of Baidyanath Pal, a resident of Palpara village in Baknai. Narayan’s son Arun Kumar Pal was the first to see the letter at night. Later, he informed the family members and locals.
The letter states that the matter cannot be disclosed to anyone. All Hindu families in Palpara should send 20 thousand taka through bKash. If the money is not paid, the entire family will be killed within 24 hours. A Bikash number has been mentioned in the letter. At the same time, after the letter reaches a family, it has been ordered to be delivered to other Hindu families as well. The name of the ‘Sevenstar Authority’ has been mentioned in the letter.
Since this incident, extreme anxiety and insecurity have arisen among Hindu families in Palpara. Victim Arun Kumar Pal said, after receiving the letter, I informed the locals and the police station. Since this incident, I have been suffering from insecurity with my family.
Rezaul Islam, UP member of Ward No. 3 Palpara of Lalpur Union, did not want to comment on this matter. Lalpur Police Station OC Md. Shafiqul Islam confirmed the truth of the incident. He said, after receiving the information, Lalpur Police Station reached the spot and started an investigation. The police have seized the letter and are trying to identify its source and those involved.
