Iran warns US of tough response

Iran has warned the US that it will respond harshly if it takes any “bold or provocative” steps. Tehran also said it will take strong countermeasures if US President Donald Trump carries out a new threat of attack. Al Arabiya reported that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made the warning in separate phone calls with top Turkish and Pakistani officials on Saturday (August 1).
Hours earlier, the Kuwaiti army said it had destroyed several drones launched from Iran that were targeting important installations. Araghchi said in phone calls with Pakistani Army Chief of Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan that Iran would respond to any “aggression.”
He also discussed US “destabilizing activities” and the possibility of further deterioration of regional security. However, Trump has already said that the US and Israel have agreed to temporarily suspend new attacks on Iran. But the condition is that a deal be reached quickly to end the months-long conflict.
Trump has said the United States is fully prepared to attack Iran. However, several countries in the Middle East, including Iran, have urged him not to launch new attacks. Trump wrote on his social media account ‘Truth Social’, “For the sake of the future of the world and for the sake of a successful and prosperous Iran, I have agreed to call off the attack if a deal can be made quickly.”
Earlier, at a cabinet meeting held at Camp David on Friday, Trump said that he believed that US negotiators, including his son-in-law Jared Kushner, special envoy Steve Witkoff and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, could still reach a deal with Iran.
However, Trump also spoke of a lack of trust in Iran. He complained that “they break their word over and over again.” Tehran has long made similar allegations against Washington. Trump also said that he would “strike” Iran if necessary.
