North Korea condemns NATO summit

North Korea has condemned the 35th NATO summit held in Ankara, Turkey, on July 7-8. The country said global denuclearization should start with its US allies, Reuters reported on Saturday (July 11).
In a statement carried by North Korea’s state media KCNA, the country’s foreign ministry said NATO leaders viewed North Korea’s exercise of its legitimate sovereign rights as a threat. The alliance has demonstrated a stronger commitment to alliance-based conflict through increased spending on arms and closer military cooperation with allies in the Asia-Pacific region.
The foreign ministry also said that officials at the NATO summit in Turkey announced more than $50 billion in military equipment purchases and industrial deals. The summit proved that NATO is an organization driven by war and conflict.
