Netanyahu: ‘Disagreements’ with Trump on Gaza plan

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he has differences with US President Donald Trump on Gaza. He said he does not agree with Trump on the deal reached with Hamas by the ‘Peace Board’ last week to stabilize Gaza.
“I have some differences with President Trump regarding the deal that was recently reached with Hamas. I am not hiding that,” Netanyahu said. The Israeli prime minister made it clear that before Gaza reconstruction can begin, Hamas must be disarmed and the entire Gaza Strip must be demilitarized.
Netanyahu made the comments after meeting with Nickolay Mladenov, the chief envoy to Trump’s ‘Peace Board’. Earlier, Trump announced last week that the ‘Peace Board’ had reached a ‘historic’ agreement with Hamas on Gaza. The US President said that under this agreement, Hamas will surrender its weapons and Israeli troops will be withdrawn from Gaza.
According to the agreement, Hamas’s disarmament is supposed to be completed in stages. At the same time, it is stated that Israeli troops will also withdraw from Gaza in stages. However, the situation has changed after Israel objected to this framework of the agreement. Under Israeli pressure, the ‘Peace Board’ later said that Hamas must be completely disarmed before Israeli troops can withdraw from Gaza.
In other words, a new difference has become apparent between the US and Israel’s positions on which of Hamas’s disarmament and Israeli troop withdrawal comes first. As a result, new complications have arisen around the three issues of Hamas’ disarmament, Israeli troop withdrawal, and Gaza’s reconstruction in the implementation of the Trump administration’s proposed Gaza peace plan.
