Nephew arrested in Akhaura for killing uncle in Gazipur
A day after the sensational murder of Anisur Rahman (32) in Joydebpur upazila of Gazipur, the Railway Police has arrested the main accused Sourav Hasan Rudra (22) from Akhaura Railway Junction in Brahmanbaria. Akhaura Railway Police Station OC SM Shafiqul Islam confirmed this information at around 10:30 pm last Friday (September 12). He said that patrol police arrested Sourav Hasan Rudra from Akhaura Railway Junction station in the early hours of last Friday. Later, after verifying his PCPR, he was interrogated and handed over to Joydebpur Police Station that night. The house of the deceased Anisur Rahman is in Bhabanipur Paschimpara of Joydebpur upazila. The arrested youth Sourav Hasan Rudra is a resident of Bhabanipur Purba Para of the same upazila. Sourav Hasan Rudra is the only accused in the murder case. Joydevpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdur Rob said that Anisur’s sister and brother-in-law had recently gone to India for treatment. Their son Sourav was kept at his uncle’s house for this period. After learning about his drug addiction, Anisur’s uncle used to stop Sourav from consuming drugs and would also discipline him. Sourav got angry about the matter. Last Wednesday afternoon, Anisur was sleeping in his own house, when Sourav slashed him with a sharp knife, leaving him bleeding and running away. At that time, upon hearing Anisur’s screams, the residents of the house rescued him in serious injuries and admitted him to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital. Anisur died there while undergoing treatment on Thursday night. Akhaura Railway Police Station OC SM Shafiqul Islam said that last Friday morning, patrol police at the station detained a person from the Dhaka Mail train due to suspicious behavior. Later, after interrogation and verification by the PCPR at the police station, it was revealed that he was an accused in a murder case. Later that night, he was handed over to the concerned police station.
