Missing old man’s body recovered from relative’s kitchen soil

50 days after his serious disappearance, police recovered the body of an old man named Awlad Hossain (60) from a relative’s kitchen soil in Sirajdikhan upazila of Munshiganj. Four people have been arrested in this incident.
The body was recovered from Chainpara village in Joynasor union of the upazila early on Wednesday (July 1). The deceased Awlad Hossain is the son of the deceased Farid Sheikh of that village. The arrested are – Manik Bepari (40), son of Kaikobad Bepari of Chainpara village, Bin Amin (36), son of the deceased Haji Idris Ali, Ripon (30), son of Momin Ali, and Saiful Islam (38), son of the deceased Gaffar Mia of Rajendrapur village of Rangpur district.
According to police and family sources, Awlad Hossain had been missing since May 9. On May 23, his brother Abdul Awal Sheikh filed a case with Sirajdikhan Police Station. After that, the family members searched for him for a long time in various possible places and also spread the news of his disappearance on social media. But he was not found anywhere. Later, based on the information received during the investigation, the police recovered his body from under the kitchen floor of the house of Awlad Hossain’s brother Khair Bepari.
Local sources said that Awlad Hossain had married twice in his personal life and there was a dispute over property in the family. The incident has created a sensation in the area along with grief. The police have arrested four people on suspicion of involvement in the incident.
Sirajdikhan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Alauddin said that four people have been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the incident. It is believed that the murder may have occurred due to a dispute over money, gold jewelry and property. Details will be announced after the investigation is completed.
