Main accused arrested in Barisal youth beating death case

RAB has arrested the main accused in the beating death of a youth named Mahbub Alam Babu Rari (29) over a land dispute in Mehendiganj upazila of Barisal. The arrested Md. Bazlur Rashid Boyati (38) is the son of Abdur Razzak Boyati, a resident of Sadekpur area of ​​Mehendiganj police station.
This Sunday (July 5) afternoon, RAB-8 Barisal’s media officer Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Kamruzzaman (PPM-Service) confirmed the matter. He said that members of the Sadar Company of RAB-8 and RAB-10 conducted a raid in the Harichar Roy Road area under Gendaria police station in Dhaka city and arrested Bazlur Rashid Boyati.
RAB said that the deceased Mahbub Alam Babu Rari is the son of Dulal Rari of Sadekpur village of Mehendiganj Sadar Union No. 5 of Mehendiganj Upazila. On June 18, due to a land dispute, Bajlur Rashid Boyati and other accused prevented Mahbub from constructing a shop on the land occupied by him in front of West Sadekpur Government Primary School.
In continuation of this, on June 23, around 7:30 pm, the accused took a pre-planned position in front of Akhter Poddar’s shop in Chunarchar area of ​​Ward No. 8 of Mehendiganj Police Station with iron rods, hammers, wooden sticks and other indigenous weapons. Later, Mahbub Alam Babu Rari launched an ambush and beat him up indiscriminately, seriously injuring him.
Hearing Mahbub’s screams, the attackers fled. He was later rescued and taken to Mehendiganj Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty referred him to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barisal for better treatment.
When his condition deteriorated there, he was transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Later, at around 6:15 am on June 24, the doctor on duty, Mahbub Alam Babu, declared Rari dead. The mother of the deceased Rari filed a murder case with Mehendiganj Police Station as the complainant. Following the case, law enforcement agencies launched a drive to arrest those involved.
It is worth noting that the other accused in this case, Jahangir (53), was earlier arrested from Siddhirganj area of ​​Narayanganj.
