Kangana calls protesters ‘garbage’, Abhijit responds
Many people participated in the student movement in various cities of India, including Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. BJP leader and Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut made a sarcastic comment targeting the protesters. She called the protesters ‘garbage generation, ugly and corrupt’. This issue is being discussed and criticized in various ways. Kangana Ranaut’s controversial and nasty comment about Gen-G or Gen-G generation students has given rise to a new debate. However, Abhijit Deep, founder of the Telapoka Janata Party (CJP), the party leading this movement, is not paying attention to this sarcasm. Addressing Kangana, he said, “Who cares about her anymore?”
A report in The Indian Express on Wednesday (July 29) said that Bollywood actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has recently come under fire for her comments on the younger generation, i.e. Gen G. After facing a storm of criticism for her previous comments, the actress has now made her stand clearer by releasing a selfie video. At the same time, she has claimed that her statement is being distorted and a section of the media is deliberately campaigning against her.
In the video, Kangana says that the behavior of some protesters during the recent student movement was very indecent and immoral. According to her, obscene language or indecent behavior in front of children, elderly and women on public roads is not acceptable in any way. She has clearly said that such behavior should not be accepted as normal in society and she will not support it.
On the other hand, when asked about Kangana’s comments, Telapoka Janata Party leader Abhijit Deep told news agency ANI, “Who will give her importance again?” According to Kangana, to live in a society, everyone has to respect the constitution and social order. Although there is freedom of expression, it also has its limits. She claims that using foul language in public or personally attacking someone cannot be part of democratic culture.
The actress also said that she never attacked the entire Gen Z generation. Rather, she praised the success of many young people in the country. She especially praised space technology companies like Skyroot Aerospace and the youth who are working hard and taking care of their families. According to her, many young people in the country are making India shine in various fields today and she is proud of them.
In a part of the video, Kangana also comments on the controversial slogans raised in the movement around Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She claims that many see the Prime Minister as a leader, guardian or inspiration. Therefore, such comments can hurt people’s sentiments. She also mentions that even if there are differences in public life, it is important to maintain politeness and restraint.
On the other hand, singer-composer Vishal Dadlani has struck a different tone in the debate. Although he did not mention Kangana by name, in a post on social media, he questioned why the use of force, lathicharge, tear gas and other harsh measures by security personnel on them are not being questioned in the same way. He said that not only the language of the slogans, but also the context of the movement and the overall picture of the incident should be given equal importance.
