Four killed in Russian missile and drone strikes in Ukraine despite ceasefire offer
Russia has launched a fresh round of deadly missile and drone strikes in the Kharkiv region of the country, ignoring Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s offer of a ceasefire and talks. At least four people were killed and more than 20 were injured in the attacks on Tuesday (June 9).
Local authorities said Russian missiles and drones hit several residential and commercial buildings in Kharkiv. Many people were trapped under the rubble of the damaged buildings after the attacks. Emergency workers are currently carrying out a massive rescue operation to rescue the missing.
When the attacks were carried out, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was returning to the capital Kiev after a crucial meeting with the leaders of Britain, France and Germany. He called for a ceasefire to resolve the situation after recent major attacks between Russia and Ukraine. Zelensky also proposed a trilateral dialogue with the active participation of the United States and European countries.
