Bangladesh’s letter to India seeking extradition of former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal

Bangladesh has formally requested the Indian government to extradite former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, who was sentenced to death in a case of crimes against humanity committed during the July coup.
A letter has recently been sent to the Indian government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs seeking the extradition of Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal. At the same time, a copy of his death sentence given by the International Crimes Tribunal has also been sent to the Indian government.
Incidentally, Sheikh Hasina, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun were accused in the case filed on charges of crimes against humanity committed during the July 24-August mass uprising.
After the judicial process, the International Crimes Tribunal-1 announced its verdict on November 17, 2025. The tribunal convicted Sheikh Hasina and Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal of crimes against humanity and sentenced them to death. Former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, who was a state witness in the same case, was sentenced to five years in prison.
