Assistant teacher beats up headmaster, video goes viral

A primary school principal in Bhedarganj, Shariatpur has been accused of beating and insulting an assistant teacher. A CCTV footage of the incident has already gone viral on social media Facebook. Meanwhile, the victim headmaster has filed two separate written complaints against the accused teacher with Sakhipur Police Station and the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) alleging beating, physical abuse and neglect of duty.
According to the written complaint, Ali Asad Mia is working as the headmaster of Abbas Ali Government Primary School No. 87 in the upazila. Delwar Hossain is working as an assistant teacher in the same school. It has been alleged that assistant teacher Delwar Hossain used to come to school regularly late for a long time and often left school without any reason. Although Headmaster Ali Asad Mia informed him about this several times verbally, there was no change in his behavior.
Finally, on the morning of July 2, Delwar Hossain applied for casual leave at the school office. That day, the Upazila Assistant Primary Education Officer had a school inspection and an emergency meeting scheduled, so Headmaster Asad requested him to perform his duties at the school without taking leave. Angered by this, Delwar Hossain got into an argument with the Headmaster. At one point, he allegedly punched and slapped the Headmaster indiscriminately, grabbed him by the throat, threw him to the ground, and physically assaulted him. A video of the incident went viral on social media, sparking discussion and criticism across the district. The victim Headmaster Ali Asad Mia complained, “Assistant Teacher Delwar has not been coming to school on time for a long time. I have informed him many times. Last Thursday, when he asked for leave, I did not give him leave because the Upazila Assistant Primary Education Officer had a school inspection and an emergency meeting scheduled. He got angry and suddenly started beating me. I informed the concerned officials and filed a written complaint at the police station and the UNO office.”
When asked about this, the accused assistant teacher Delwar Hossain said, “I asked for leave as my child was sick, but he said leave cannot be given. He got angry and started fighting and after that he was not in a normal state. He had been torturing me for many days. I want justice for him.” In this regard, Sakhipur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mofazzal Hossain said, “We have received a written complaint. The complaint will be investigated and necessary legal action will be taken.” In this regard, Vedarganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Abubakar Siddiqui said, “We have received the complaint. The matter will be investigated and necessary administrative action will be taken as per the rules based on the investigation report.”
