5 members of the same family killed in bus-microbus collision

Five members of the same family were killed in a horrific road accident in Chakaria on the Cox’s Bazar-Chittagong highway. The accident occurred at 9 am today (November 5) on Wednesday (November 5) when a passenger bus and a microbus collided head-on south of the Dighi Army Camp in Phansiakhali Hans. Among the deceased are a child and four women. However, their identities were not immediately known.
Malumghat Highway Police Station OC Mehedi Hasan said that a passenger bus of Marcha Paribahan bound for Chittagong collided head-on with a microbus bound for Cox’s Bazar. Five people died on the spot. Two of the injured have been admitted to different hospitals in Chakaria. Police have seized both vehicles. However, the drivers of the bus and microbus fled immediately after the accident.
Locals said that accidents are happening frequently as there has been no speed control system on that part of the highway for a long time. They demanded the immediate installation of speed breakers and signboards there. Meanwhile, traffic on the Cox’s Bazar-Chittagong highway was closed for some time after the accident. Later, police reached the spot and normalized the situation.
