Two sentenced to death in child rape and murder cases in Chuadanga and Magura
The court has sentenced two accused to death in the child rape and murder cases in Chuadanga and Magura. This Monday (July 20) morning, Magura District and Sessions Judge Judge Mizanur Rahman announced the verdict in the child Razia murder and rape case. The death sentence was handed down to Hasan Sheikh, who is currently in jail.
The case states that Razia Khatun, a sixth-grade student from Srikal village in Sripur upazila, went missing on March 16, 2022. Her body was recovered from a bamboo grove the next day. A rape and murder case was filed against Hasan by the family. After investigation, the police filed a charge sheet against Hasan. After taking testimony and arguments, the court announced the verdict today.
Meanwhile, the court has also sentenced the sole accused in the child Maryam rape and murder case in Chuadanga, Abul Hossain, to death. He has also been fined Tk 2 lakh. Abul, who has been sentenced to death, is currently in jail.
The case details state that on December 21, 2023, Maryam Khatun, a third-grade student of Goalpara village in Jibannagar, along with a few others, went to the field to pick vegetables. At that time, a man cleverly took the child to a corn field and raped and killed her. The child’s family filed a case in this incident. After investigation, the police accused Abul and filed a charge sheet. After that, the accused also gave a confessional statement in the court. In addition, the state’s lawyer expressed satisfaction with the verdict.
