12 injured in clash over formation of mosque committee in Shailkupa
Twelve people were injured in a clash between two parties over the formation of a mosque committee in Shailkupa, Jhenaidah. Five of the injured have been admitted to Shailkupa Upazila Health Complex. The incident took place at around 8 pm on Saturday (June 4) in Uttar Mirzapur village of Shailkupa upazila.
Locals said that the two parties had been in dispute for some time over the formation of the management committee of the Jama Masjid in Uttar Mirzapur village. An argument started between people from both sides on this issue around 8 pm on Saturday. At one point, a clash broke out between them. At least 12 people, including elderly worshippers, were injured in this.
Five of the injured have been admitted to the Shailkupa Upazila Health Complex. The rest are undergoing treatment in various hospitals. Humayun Kabir Mollah, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shailkupa Police Station, said that police were sent to the spot after receiving information about the clash between the two parties over the formation of the mosque management committee. Additional police have been deployed in the village. The situation is now calm.
