Prime Minister’s visit to China
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will pay a state visit to China in the last week of this month. Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Barrister Kaiser Kamal made this information while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the 7th China-South Asia Cooperation Forum held in Yunnan Province, China.
Addressing the delegates present, he said that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will pay a state visit to China in the last week of this month to take the relations between the two countries to a new height. At the inaugural ceremony of the forum held in Kunming on Wednesday (June 10), he called for further strengthening diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and China and increasing Chinese investment in various sectors.
The event was presided over by the Governor of Yunnan Province. The event was addressed by Xiao Qian, Special Envoy for Asia of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Deputy Speaker of Nepal Indira Rana Magar, Foreign Minister of Maldives Dr. Abdullah Khadir, Sri Lankan State Minister for Foreign Affairs Arun Hemchandra, Pakistani Ambassador to China Khalilur Rahman Hashmi, SAARC Secretary General Ghulam Sarwar and Bhutan’s former Minister of Industry, Commerce and Employment Karma Dorji, as well as leaders of the Communist Party of China.
In his speech, Kaiser Kamal stressed the need to further strengthen diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and China. He said that Bangladesh-China relations are continuously strengthening on the basis of mutual trust, cooperation and development partnership. China’s cooperation in various fields including infrastructure development, information technology, power, healthcare and trade is making important contributions to Bangladesh’s development progress. He called for more investment and cooperation in these sectors. He also said that China is one of Bangladesh’s closest and most reliable development partners. The leaderships of both countries are committed to further advancing the existing friendly relations and strategic cooperation between the two countries.
At that time, he informed the delegates that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will go on a state visit to China in the last week of this month to take the multidimensional relations between Bangladesh and China to a new height. He also expressed hope that this visit will further strengthen the mutual cooperation and friendly relations between the two countries. NCP Member Secretary Akhter Hossain MP, BNP MP Engineer Khaled Mahmud Shyamal and reserved seat MP Jasmine Sultana Jui were present along with the Deputy Speaker at the opening ceremony of the forum.
