2 killed in road accident in Habiganj
Two people were killed and two others were injured in a head-on collision between a sand-laden drum truck and a CNG auto-rickshaw on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Madhabpur, Habiganj. The accident occurred on Wednesday (June 10) morning in the Dakshin Bejura area of the upazila. The deceased were identified as CNG driver Akkas Mia (38), son of Babu Mia from the Bengdoba area of the upazila, and passenger Monowara Begum (70), wife of deceased Kamrul Hasan from the same area.
Locals said that in the morning, a CNG auto-rickshaw carrying passengers tried to overtake another CNG on a bridge in the Dakshin Bejura area, when the CNG collided head-on with a sand-laden drum truck coming from the opposite direction.
CNG driver Akkas Mia died on the spot in the collision. The three seriously injured passengers were rescued and taken to the Madhabpur Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared Monowara Begum dead. The injured Taklima Begum and Liton Mia have been sent to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital for advanced treatment.
