Mother and son die after being hit by train in Bogra

A woman and her infant son were killed after being hit by a train in Sonatala upazila of Bogra. Police are initially suspecting the incident to be a suicide. SI Shariful Islam of Sonatala police station said that the accident took place at around 9:30 am today (December 28) in Chhaigharia Para of Sonatala Municipality.
The deceased have been identified as Roni Begum (30) and her son Arafat (8). They are residents of Doail area of ​​Gobindaganj upazila. Police said that Roni Begum was heading towards Sonatala with her son in the morning. At that time, a local man tried to remove them after seeing the mother and son standing on the railway line.
Shortly after, the mother and son died on the spot when they were hit by a Padmarag train heading from Santahar to Lalmonirhat. The person who went to rescue them was injured. SI Shariful Islam said that it is initially suspected that the mother and son committed suicide. Police are investigating to find out the exact cause of death.
