Woman dies after being hit by train in Rajshahi

A woman named Hasina Begum (65) died after being hit by a train in Rajshahi. The incident took place at the Gaurhanga rail gate in the city around 8:30 am today, Wednesday (May 20). The deceased Hasina Begum’s husband is Rajab Ali. She lives in Narayanpur village of Kaliganj upazila of Satkhira.
Rajshahi Railway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Faisal Bin Ahsan confirmed this information. He said that Hasina Begum’s daughter lives in Kesharhat of Mohanpur upazila of Rajshahi. Hasina came to Rajshahi 15 days ago as her granddaughter was ill. She left for Satkhira in the morning.
While crossing the Gaurhanga rail gate, her train inadvertently collided with the down local Mahananda Express train going from Rohanpur to Khulna in Chapainawabganj. She died on the spot. The OC said that there is no complaint from the family in this regard. Therefore, the body was recovered and handed over to the relatives. However, a case of unnatural death has been filed at the police station in this incident.
