Two killed, 6 injured in four-way collision in Rajbari

Two people were killed and at least 6 injured in a four-way collision between a freight train and a passenger bus, a battery-powered autorickshaw and a Mahindra car at Khankhanapur railway gate in Rajbari Sadar upazila. The accident occurred at around 9 pm on Sunday (July 26).
According to local and highway police sources, a freight train was heading towards Khulna from Dhuldhi Power Station in Faridpur. The first engine of the train crossed the Khankhanapur railway line in Rajbari with several bogies. Later, when the barrier on the railway line was removed, the bogies that had separated from the main train collided with a passenger bus, a battery-powered autorickshaw and a Mahindra car on the highway.
Immediately after the incident, the highway police and fire service started rescue operations with the help of locals. Several people were rescued in serious condition and sent to Faridpur Medical College Hospital. Two of them, Monowar Patwari and Abdul Malek, died on the way to the hospital and were undergoing treatment. Ahladipur Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Maksur Rahman Murad confirmed the incident and said that the injured in the accident have been rescued and sent to the hospital. He added that the vehicles involved in the accident have been recovered from the scene.
