Two children drown in Magura

Two children drowned in a pond near their house in Barujak Srikundi village of Magura Sadar upazila. The deceased are Naeem (6), son of Jamal Hossain of Bajruk Srikundi village. On the other hand, Nusrat (7), daughter of Liton Hossain of Baliadanga village, died in the same incident. They are each other’s aunt and nephew. The death occurred on Tuesday (May 19) afternoon in Bajruk Srikundi village. Police and locals said that the two children were playing in a pond near their house due to accumulated rainwater in the morning.
At that time, they drowned in the pond. When locals rescued them and brought them to the 250-bed Sadar Hospital in Magura, emergency department doctor Imran declared both of them dead. Magura Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Al-Mamnu said that two children drowned in a pond near their house. The bodies have been kept at the Magura Sadar Hospital morgue. Legal action is being taken in this incident.
