Son and grandson arrested for murdering mother in Natore

Police have arrested an old woman’s son and grandson in Singra upazila of Natore on charges of strangling her to death. Natore Superintendent of Police Mohammad Shariful Haque gave this information at a press conference organized at Singra police station on Wednesday (June 10).
Earlier, police recovered the body of Maria Begum (75) wrapped in a sack from Agpara area of ​​Sherkal union of the upazila on Tuesday.
The Superintendent of Police said that Marjina Begum, daughter of the deceased Maria Begum, filed a general diary (GD) with Singra police station last Saturday regarding the disappearance of her mother. After the body was recovered yesterday, the deceased’s son Mr. Ali was taken to the police station for questioning. During questioning, Mr. Ali confessed to killing his mother.
He said that Mr. Ali strangled his mother to death due to a family dispute. After the murder, the body was hidden in a toilet next to the house. After a few days, when the body started to decompose and the stench continued to spread, he wrapped the body in a bag with the help of his son Alamin and threw it in a nearby pond on Thursday night. Later, when the stench spread, the locals became suspicious. Superintendent of Police Mohammad Shariful Haque said that after receiving the information, the police went to the spot, recovered the body and started an investigation to unravel the mystery of the incident. The process of filing a case in this incident is underway. Legal action will be taken against the accused and sent to court.
