Several unions in Banshkhali, Chittagong have been submerged in continuous rain for several days. Thousands of people have been stranded. As heavy rains resumed this Sunday (July 12) morning, there has been renewed anxiety among the stranded people. However, there has been some relief as there has been no rain since last night.
Chambal, Chanua and Gandamara unions have been the worst affected in Banshkhali. Many houses have been damaged by the floodwaters. In addition, cropland has been submerged and fish ponds have been washed away. Meanwhile, there is a shortage of food and clean water in the flooded areas. The Bangladesh Army is working in the field alongside the local administration to help the affected people.
