Prime Minister Tarique Rahman holds formal meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister
Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman held a formal meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. After the meeting, the Prime Minister called for accepting more workers from Bangladesh and legalizing undocumented migrants. He made the call at a joint press conference after a meeting at the Malaysian Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya on Monday (June 22) morning.
The Prime Minister said that expatriates have a role to play in the socio-economic development of Bangladesh. She urged the Malaysian government to alleviate their suffering abroad. The Prime Minister also expressed interest in joining ASEAN. She urged Malaysia to play an effective role in resolving the Rohingya crisis.
After the bilateral meeting with the Malaysian Prime Minister, a memorandum of understanding was signed and two notes were exchanged. On the second day of his 18-hour visit to Malaysia, the country’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim welcomed the Bangladeshi head of government at his office. Tarique Rahman was given a red carpet reception. The Prime Minister was presented with a guard of honour.
