Prime Minister takes all initiatives to establish sports as a profession

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said that the current government has taken all initiatives to establish sports as a profession. He also said that sports cards are being given to players who achieve success in sports by bringing them under the salary structure. He said these things while attending the 46th national gathering of Ansar and Village Defense Force in Safipur, Gazipur on Wednesday (May 20) morning.
The Prime Minister said that 15 athletes of Ansar and Village Defense Force have already been brought under the sports card facility. In addition, arrangements have been made to deploy 379 integrated Ansar members in 10 cricket stadiums of the country to ensure overall security for organizing international standard sports events smoothly and without any hindrance.
He also said that Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force has achieved commendable success in the sports and cultural arena. In recognition of becoming champions in the 5th, 6th and 7th Bangladesh Games for three consecutive times, the force received the Independence Medal in 2004.
Meanwhile, regarding the structural development of the force, the Prime Minister said that the work of drafting the Ansar Battalion Rules 2026, VDP Rules 2026, Integrated Ansar Rules 2026 and Ansar Battalion Member Recruitment and Promotion Rules 2026 is almost in the final stage. In addition, initiatives have been taken to formulate the Upazila Ansar Rules 2026 to further strengthen the activities of the force at the upazila level. She also said that a biometric attendance system has been introduced at the force headquarters to strengthen administrative transparency and discipline.
