Nephew dies after being hit by uncle’s horse in Meherpur

A young man named Nahid Hossain (22) died while undergoing treatment after being seriously injured after being hit by uncle’s horse in Gangni upazila of Meherpur. He died at around 10 am today (July 28) while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dhaka.
Earlier, this incident took place on Monday night in Bitapada village of Tantulbaria union of the upazila. The deceased Nahid Hossain is the son of Zahid Hossain of Bitapada village of Tantulbaria. Lalon Hossain, son of accused Nurul Islam, is a resident of the same village. According to local sources, a bicycle was stolen from Lalon Hossain’s house around 9 pm on July 26.
In this incident, he alleged that his brother’s son Nahid had stolen the bicycle. An argument first broke out between the uncle and nephew over this allegation. The next day, on July 27, they clashed again over this issue. At one point, Lalon Hossain Nahid was hit indiscriminately with a razor blade in his hand, causing him to be seriously injured.
Locals rescued Nahid in a bloody state and first took him to Meherpur General Hospital. When his condition deteriorated there, he was transferred to Kushtia Medical College Hospital. Later, he was admitted to a hospital in Dhaka for advanced treatment, where he died on Tuesday morning.
Gangni Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohaddid Murshed Chowdhury said that police have been sent to the spot. Legal action will be taken after talking to the family members of the deceased.
