MP Kalam demands construction of Shitalakshya bridge in Parliament

Narayanganj-5 MP Advocate Abul Kalam has drawn the attention of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in Parliament by demanding the construction of Shitalakshya bridge in Hajiganj Kheyaghat and Nabiganj areas of Narayanganj city. He said this while participating in the first session of the 13th National Parliament election today, Wednesday (April 15).
At that time, Kalam said, my Narayanganj-5 constituency consists of the east and west banks of the Shitalakshya river. Since the main city is on the west side of the river, nearly lakhs of people commute to the city and Dhaka for daily work through the five Kheyaghats in this area. At that time, many people died in natural disasters and various accidents.
He also said, considering the long-standing demands of the people of our area, the then Prime Minister late Begum Khaleda Zia undertook the project to construct a bridge over the Shitalakshya river in the Hajiganj Kheyaghat section and laid the foundation stone of the bridge in 2006. He said, “The previous autocratic Awami League government has suspended the project till date due to their inferiority complex. I am drawing the attention of the Honorable Prime Minister on this matter.”
