Israeli airstrikes continue in Lebanon despite ceasefire, killing 41 more
At least 10 people have been killed in the latest Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon, bringing the total number of deaths in the past 24 hours to 41, Al Jazeera reported. The Lebanese Health Ministry said the new attacks on Saturday (May 2) brought the total number of deaths in the past 24 hours to 41. The total death toll since March 2 this year has reached 2,659, with 8,183 injured.
The country’s National News Agency (NNA) reported, citing the Health Ministry, that three people were killed in an Israeli attack in the town of Shawkin in the Nabatieh district. Earlier, two people were killed in an attack on a car in the village of Kafr Dajjal. Three more were killed in an attack on a house in the village of Loaizeh. In addition, two people were killed in another attack in the village of Shawkin, the NNA said.
Israeli forces carried out an airstrike near the Al-Quds junction in the city of Nabatiyah, and warplanes also targeted the town of Siddiquin in the Tyre district. A US-brokered ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel began on April 17, but the occupying forces have repeatedly violated it. Israel claims that its strikes are targeting members of the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah. However, most of the casualties in its attacks have been civilians.
