Iran to ‘severely punish’ US if it makes a mistake
The memorandum of understanding to be signed between the US and Iran includes a 60-day ceasefire extension. Iran says that if the US carries out aggression under the agreement, its response will be much harsher than ever before.
Despite indications of an initial memorandum of understanding between the two countries, Tehran is preparing for the possibility of talks failing. It has previously said that it will sit down with its hand on the trigger. Iran’s armed forces have said that they are always on full alert, given the belligerent attitude and past actions of the US and the ‘Zionist regime’ Israel.
A military source told Tasnim that if the US miscalculates again and takes any ‘criminal’ steps against Iran, it will face a ‘third stage of Iranian conflict’. The source claimed that this new type of conflict will be completely different from the previous two wars in terms of tactics, military methods, goals and equipment used.
The New York Times reported that US President Donald Trump has announced that a peace deal with Iran is close to being finalized. Later, positive signals were also received from Tehran. Three top Iranian officials confirmed that Iran has agreed to a memorandum of understanding aimed at completely ending the ongoing war between the two countries and reopening the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
