Iran claims attack on US warship in Hormuz after warning signal ignored

Iran’s state news agency Fars News Agency reported that two missiles hit a US Navy warship near the Strait of Hormuz. The report said that the ship refused to stop despite warnings from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the attack took place near Jask Island.
The incident came at a time when US President Donald Trump announced that ‘Project Freedom’ would begin from Monday (May 4), through which ships stuck in the Strait of Hormuz would be ‘guided’ and brought out safely. However, the US Navy itself was not damaged in the Iranian attack. But there was no immediate official response from the US to the attack.
