Hasnat Abdullah reveals reason for asking for car
Comilla-4 MP Hasnat Abdullah said that he wants government cars, not tax-free cars, for MPs. He said this while standing at the point of order on the 19th day of the parliament session on Wednesday afternoon (April 22).
Hasnat Abdullah said, “We will not take tax-free cars. We will not take the plot facility either. I had informed this parliament that just as the Zilla Parishad chairman, Upazila Parishad chairman, Municipality mayor, Deputy Commissioner, Upazila Nirbahi Officer, AC Bhumi and other government officials get government cars for conducting government work, can our MPs also use cars or not?”
He said, “As long as the MP remains an MP, government cars can be used and there will be no additional cost for this. Our MPs are already paid 70 thousand taka for the maintenance of their cars. But we do not have any cars.”
Hasnat Abdullah said, “My point is that in yesterday’s speech, I did not ask for any tax-free cars and all the members of Parliament have unanimously decided that they will not accept the issue of tax-free plots and cars. Every MP in this 13th National Parliament has set a unique example in this regard.”
