Government job through proxy: 4 arrested for trying to join the ministry

They resorted to a novel fraud of using someone else (proxy) instead of themselves to take the written and oral exams. They thought that this time they had secured the government job! But it was not so. Four youths have been caught trying to join the Ministry of Public Administration after receiving the final appointment letter for the post of ‘Office Assistant’.
They were arrested after they were caught cheating while joining the Ministry of Public Administration at the Secretariat today (September 19). Preparations are underway to file a case in this incident at Shahbagh Police Station in the capital. Shariful Islam, Deputy Secretary of the Administration-1 Branch of the Ministry of Public Administration, confirmed the matter.
The four arrested are Md. A. Halim (Roll-19004481) of Gopalpur Upazila of Tangail, Md. Ali Haider (Roll-19016391) of Chauhali Upazila of Sirajganj and Md. Russell Rana Liton (Roll-19011933) and Md. Masud Fakir (Roll-19019257). Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration Shariful Islam said, the joining phase of the final selection phase of the recruitment examination of the Ministry of Public Administration was today.
20 people were supposed to join for the post of Office Assistant and 5 people for the post of Shorthand-Typing cum Computer Operator. Earlier, on the day they gave the oral examination, we took pictures of each of them. Compared with the pictures of those who came to join today, we saw a discrepancy in the faces of four of them.
He also said, after verifying the documents and pictures, it was found that these four did not actually come to take the oral examination. Someone else came and gave a proxy on their behalf. Later, when we questioned them, they admitted that they did not give the oral examination, but someone else did. We are now in the process of handing them over to the police and taking legal action.
According to sources in the Ministry of Public Administration, the oral examination for the post of Office Assistant (Grade-20) of the Ministry of Public Administration was held on August 24, 25 and 28. To ensure transparency, photographs of all the participating candidates were taken. Then, the finally selected candidates were asked to join Room 1 of Building 3 of the Secretariat at 10 am on September 19. When four people came to join at the scheduled time, the officials became suspicious. Later, after comparing the photos taken on the day of the oral examination, the matter of fraud became clear. During interrogation, they admitted that someone else had taken the examination on their behalf. They also confessed their guilt in writing in this regard.
