Government is moving ahead in a planned manner to break the market syndicate: Commerce Minister
Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir said that the government is moving ahead in a planned manner to break the market syndicate in the coming days. He said that in the future, the government will have effective control over the market and the market will be free from manipulation. Some plans have been taken for this. Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir gave this information after inaugurating the activities of the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) at Agargaon in the capital on Monday (May 11) afternoon.
The Commerce Minister said that first, strategic reserves will be created for some selected products at the state level. Secondly, the entire supply chain from the import stage to retail sales will be brought under an AI model, so that the government has the opportunity to closely monitor the entire system. Currently, about 8 million people are under the TCB card facility. This time, it is planned to include 2 million more people in this program.
He further said, “After the fall of the last government, we saw that out of 1 crore beneficiaries, about 5.9 million were suspicious or fake. Therefore, fresh verification is being done to confirm the real beneficiaries. Work is underway to formulate a new policy to bring transparency in the appointment of dealers. Through this, qualified and honest people will be appointed as dealers. Along with this, initiatives are also being taken to increase the participation of the common people in the import process,” the Commerce Minister said.
