Former UP member dies during arbitration in Rangunia
A former UP member died in a clash between two parties during an arbitration in Rangunia, Chittagong. Abdul Malek (55), a former UP member of Ward No. 6 of Sarafbhata Union of the upazila, died during an arbitration meeting on Saturday (July 25) afternoon.
According to local and eyewitness sources, a clash broke out between the two parties during an arbitration meeting over an issue in the afternoon. At one point, the clash broke out and Abdul Malek fell to the ground. He was later rescued and taken to Ichakhali Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
The deceased’s family claims that he was killed during the arbitration. However, the police or the doctor have not yet officially announced the cause of death. South Rangunia Police Station OC Hilal Uddin Ahmed said that an investigation into the incident is underway. An autopsy will be conducted on the body to determine the actual cause of death. The cause of death can be confirmed after receiving the investigation and autopsy report.
