Easybike rider dies after being beaten up by private car driver in Narayanganj, accused arrested
A complaint has been filed against an easybike rider named Rafiqul Islam (45) in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj, for beating him up after his easybike collided with a private car. The incident took place in front of the Raihan CNG pump on Chittagong Road at around 11pm on Wednesday (July 22).
Relatives of the deceased Rafiq said that he regularly rode an easybike. While passing in front of the CNG pump in Siddhirganj at night, Rafiqul was careless and his bike collided with a private car. As a result, at one point in the argument, the private car driver Nadim punched Rafiq. Rafiq’s nose started bleeding from the punch and he lost consciousness and fell to the ground.
Upon receiving the news, Rafiq’s relatives reached the spot and rescued him and took him to Khanpur 300-bed hospital in Narayanganj. Later, the doctor on duty there declared him dead.
Meanwhile, Khorshed Mahmud, general secretary of Shimrail area Rent-a-Car Owners Association, said, “One of the drivers at our stand is Nadeem (50), whose home is in Adamjee Bihari Colony area. He was arrested after the incident and handed over to the police.”
In this regard, Narayanganj Additional Superintendent of Police Tarek Al Mehedi said, “The body has been sent to the morgue for autopsy. The accused driver has been arrested. Further legal proceedings are underway.”
