Clashes in Thaliara, Brahmanbaria, 20 injured

At least 20 people were injured in a clash between two parties using tents, spears and bricks and stones over a land dispute in Brahmanbaria Sadar Upazila. The clash took place from Sunday (June 7) morning to noon in Thaliara village of Natai Uttar Union of the upazila.
According to police and local sources, there was a long-standing dispute between Zubayer of Mindar Ali (small group) clan of Thaliara village and Joynal Mia of Barairbari (large group) clan over the land of a shop. The shop was run by Shiro Mia of the small group.
Four days ago, a local arbitrator decided to demolish the shop. Since then, tension had been prevailing between the two parties. Therefore, this morning both sides got involved in a clash with local weapons. Panic spread throughout the village due to the use of sticks, spears and bricks and stones in the clash. At least 20 people from both sides were injured, including those injured in stabbings.
Receiving the news of the clash, Brahmanbaria Sadar Police Station rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control after about three hours of effort. Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Shahidul Islam said that upon receiving the news, the police quickly rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. The situation is currently normal. Additional police have been deployed in the area to avoid any new unpleasant incidents. The process of taking legal action in this incident is underway.
