Chittagong Chamber donates Tk 1 crore to Prime Minister’s Relief Fund
Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), one of the country’s leading trade organizations, has donated Tk 1 crore to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund to help flood victims.
Chittagong Chamber President Mohammad Amirul Haque handed over the donation check to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Prime Minister’s Office at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Wednesday (July 15) evening. Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury was present at the time.
Accepting the donation, the Prime Minister expressed her gratitude to the Chittagong Chamber. She said that such humanitarian initiatives of the business community during the country’s disaster and crisis are commendable. In the meeting, the Prime Minister shed light on the government’s ongoing activities to deal with the flood situation. She said that the government has been working with utmost importance to stand by the affected people from the beginning. Along with government initiatives, cooperation with private institutions and social organizations will make disaster management more effective.
The Prime Minister also said that the government is seriously considering the issue of damage to industries and businesses affected by the flood. All possible steps will be taken to restore the damaged economy and provide necessary assistance to the businessmen.
While handing over the check, Chittagong Chamber President Mohammad Amirul Haque said, “Chittagong Chamber is always committed to standing by the people affected by any disaster and crisis in the country. This cooperation of the organization in helping the flood victims is part of that commitment.”
