BGB returns 2 Indians detained while fishing in Bangladesh

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has returned two Indian nationals who were detained by Bangladeshis while fishing on the Chapainawabganj border. They were returned after a flag meeting between the BGB and BSF.
The two returned Indian nationals are Bachchan Mahaldar, son of Devan Mahaldar, and Raju Mahaldar, son of Santosh Mahaldar, of Tilashan village of Habipur police station in Malda district of West Bengal, India. Both of them earn their living by fishing. Acting Commander of BGB 16 Battalion, Major Tanim Hasan Khan, confirmed this information in a press release on Thursday (January 8) morning.
He said, “Yesterday, Wednesday afternoon, Bangladeshi and Indian fishermen were fishing near Seram Dara Beel adjacent to International Pillar No. 219 on the Charladanga border. At that time, Bangladeshi fishermen caught Bachchan and Raju, thinking that they had crossed the border and entered Bangladeshi waters. Later, the BGB rescued two Indian citizens from the fishermen in the Ketabazar area and brought them back. The BGB captain further said that after the incident, a flag meeting was held between the BGB and BSF at around 4 pm yesterday. Later, the BGB members handed over Bachchan and Raju to the BSF.”
