Bangladeshi man’s body recovered from Sylhet border
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has recovered the body of a Bangladeshi named Mik Kanda Dani (60) from the Companiganj border area of Sylhet. His body was found lying on a stone in the river water 100 yards inside the Indian border by locals on Wednesday (June 24) at around 6 pm.
Mik Kanda Dani is the son of deceased Sokriya Kanda Dani of Turong village adjacent to the Damdamia border in Companiganj upazila. Locals said that since he lived in the zero point area of the border, he often went across the border to collect firewood. He also worked as a laborer in a Khasia garden. They also said that he was often intoxicated.
He entered India around 11 am yesterday to collect firewood and jackfruit. But when he did not return till evening, his family members started searching for him. Later, his body was recovered from the water gap of the Turong Chhara river in the hills adjacent to pillar number 1260. At that time, there were signs of stone injuries on his head and body. Later, relatives recovered the body and brought it home. BGB Commander Lieutenant Colonel Md. Nazmul Haque confirmed the matter. He said that there was no incident of firing by the BSF or Indian Khasias.
He also said that his house is near the Bangladesh side of the border. He often went to work in the garden on the other side. He died in an accident inside the border. Later, relatives brought him. Initially, it is believed to be an accident. Companyganj Police Station has reached the spot. Companyganj Police Station OC Md. Shafiqul Islam Khan said, we have received information about the incident. Police have been sent to the spot.
