All fugitives will be brought back to the country and tried: State Minister for Foreign Affairs

All fugitives who have been tried and convicted will be brought back to the country and tried, said State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid Islam. He made these remarks after a seminar organized on BIMSTEC this Monday (July 20) morning.
The State Minister for Foreign Affairs said that maximum efforts are being made through diplomatic processes to bring back not only ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina or former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, but also all the accused convicted of crimes against humanity in the 2024 mass uprising.
He also said that on the two-year anniversary in July, we are also carrying that grief. How much blood has been shed, how many lives have been lost. Our hope is that a fair, impartial and speedy trial of this incident will be ensured. At this time, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs expressed the hope that India will respond positively this time, considering the bilateral relations between the two countries.
Incidentally, the International Crimes Tribunal sentenced Sheikh Hasina and former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal to death on November 17, 2025, in a case of crimes against humanity in the 2024 mass uprising. Before and after the verdict, Dhaka had sent three letters to Delhi demanding Hasina’s return. However, this time the Foreign Ministry has officially sent a letter to the Indian government demanding Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal’s return. A copy of the death sentence verdict given by the tribunal has also been sent.
